Aviation Scholar Foundation Mission

The mission of ASF is to find, train, educate and mentor an underserved aviation talent pool of youth in the Atlanta area to help reduce the pilot shortage and other aviation career positions in the aviation industry.  The Aviation Scholar Foundation will raise funds and connect minority communities of talent with paths to become career pilots, aviation crew members and aviation support careers.  The Foundation's aviation network has over 43 years working in the aviation environment with Corporate, Airline, Military and Cargo operations,   The Aviation Scholar Foundation will help reduce aviation career job shortages as well as increase the diversity of aviation career field candidates.

According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, the racial makeup of America's professional pilots and flight engineers is 92% white and 91%, male. Last year's figures show that less than 3% of US commercial pilots are African Americans. Fewer than 7% are Hispanic or Latino, and a little more than 4% are Asian. 

Aviation Scholar Foundation's three tier program will provide pilot opportunity programs, training, education, and support through our Aviation Museum and Aviation Thrift Shop.  ASF is actively seeking to acquire and renovate a facility in Atlanta to house our Aviation Museum and Aviation Thrift Store as we expand from training candidates from donations only to becoming self sustaining.

ASF's first capital campaign goal is to raise $1 million for educational scholarships, hire staff, and acquire and renovate a facility that will provide museum, thrift store, and retail training, as well as business and life skills classes to those who are identified and qualify.
