My experience with the Aviation Scholar Foundation (ASF) has been transformative, allowing me to enter the world of corporate aviation—a field none of my family generations have ventured into. I have earned a Second in Command (SIC) type rating on the Gulfstream G-550, accumulating nearly 200 hours of turbine time traveling to destinations beyond what I could have ever dreamed of. ASF provided an incredible opportunity to train with a former Air Force One pilot, whose expertise and mentorship were invaluable. This experience has not only honed my skills but also inspired a deep-seated confidence in my abilities.
Training with such an esteemed mentor, I gained insights and knowledge that are rarely accessible. The experience was further enriched by flying to diverse airports and exploring international destinations, broadening my understanding of global aviation operations.
As a minority pilot, ASF has opened doors that seemed unreachable, helping me break barriers and setting a new precedent for future generations in my family. The support and encouragement from ASF have been instrumental in my journey, emphasizing the importance of diversity in aviation.
I am immensely grateful to ASF for their unwavering support and dedication to fostering the growth of pilots from all backgrounds. The foundation has not only elevated my career but has also empowered me to inspire others to pursue their dreams in aviation. I am honored to be part of the ASF community and am eager to contribute to its mission of promoting diversity and excellence in aviation.
Dan Brunskole's work through the Aviation Scholar Foundation propelled my aviation career forward in many positive aspects. Thanks to ASF, I currently hold an SIC type rating in a Gulf Stream 550 with almost 60 SIC hours and 100 total hours.
ASF positioned me to start applying for corporate pilot jobs with only 700 total flight hours. In addition to the superb right seat training I've received, I've gained significant insight into Part 91 operations, such as working with maintenance personnel, coordinating crew schedules, filing flight plans, managing passengers, and international crossings.
Corporate flying presents a career path I never previously imagined for myself. I've also been privileged to travel to the most beautiful destinations and connect with other pilots. The English language lacks the words for me to thoroughly express my gratitude for ASF. I am honored to be a part of their program and look forward to being a part of its growth.
